Sarahana Shrestha was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, moved to the United States in 2001 as a student, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2019. Before serving in the New York State Assembly for District 103, she worked as a graphic designer and creative technologist, served as Ulster County co-chair of the Mid-Hudson Valley chapter of Democratic Socialists of America, and organized on climate, healthcare, housing, and public power issues.
