Patrick Chludzinski is a decorated military veteran and law enforcement official who was elected to the New York State Assembly for District 143 on November 5, 2024. He joined the Cheektowaga Police Department in 1999, rose to Detective Lieutenant of the Youth and Family Offense Unit, and served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard, including activation after September 11 and service during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Committee Assignments: Committee on Aging · Committee on Banks · Committee on Health · Committee on Libraries and Education Technology · Committee on Transportation
Patrick Chludzinski's healthcare-related record emphasizes patient safety, prevention, addiction-related enforcement, and vaccine policy oversight. As an Assembly Health Committee member, he co-sponsored bills on healthcare-facility misconduct reporting and public-health prevention education, backed opioid-dealer accountability legislation, and voted against a bill to restore religious exemptions from school vaccination requirements.
Patrick Chludzinski frames his Economy & Jobs position around affordability, tax restraint, competition, and reducing costs for households and local governments. He supports structural fiscal reforms, tax cuts/credits, energy-cost relief, local revenue measures intended to protect property taxpayers, and procurement competition to lower prices and prevent shortages.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Chludzinski called on Governor Kathy Hochul to veto A.8888/S.8417, arguing that eliminating the gas-connection rule would increase housing, construction, and utility costs for working families.
SourceAfter the 2025 State of the State, Chludzinski said expanding the Child Tax Credit and cutting taxes were good first steps but argued New York needed structural reforms to address economic woes and competitiveness.
SourcePatrick Chludzinski's immigration-related record emphasizes law-enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities, local control over migrant sheltering, and criticism of New York's migrant-crisis spending and Green Light Law. Public sources found show co-sponsorship of immigration-enforcement bills and a stated public-safety-focused opposition to current state migrant and immigrant-driver-license policies.
Specific Actions & Proposals
In a State of the State response, Chludzinski said billions had been spent on the migrant crisis without adequate answers for local governments or safety, and said failure to repeal the Green Light Law would continue to make families and seniors less safe.
SourcePatrick Chludzinski’s Climate & Energy record emphasizes affordability, energy-choice protections, skepticism toward mandates that accelerate electrification, and scrutiny of renewable-energy costs. As Assembly member for New York Assembly District 143, he has sponsored or co-sponsored bills to preserve fossil-fuel options in buildings and vehicles, return climate-account surplus funds to ratepayers, require renewable-energy cost-benefit analysis, and provide energy-price tax relief.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Chludzinski called on Gov. Kathy Hochul to veto legislation eliminating the natural-gas 100-foot rule, arguing it would raise construction and utility costs and limit energy choices.
SourcePatrick Chludzinski emphasizes education funding accountability, fair distribution of school resources, classroom-focused spending, school safety, curriculum transparency, workforce-ready education, parental rights, and expanded educational opportunities. As an Assembly member for District 143, he has sponsored or co-sponsored education-related bills on library aid formulas, dyslexia screening, evidence-based reading instruction, and school-based teen dating violence prevention.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Chludzinski stated he would support mandating antisemitism training at higher education institutions and ensuring taxpayer money is not granted to colleges or universities that authorize, facilitate, or fund events promoting antisemitism on campus.
SourcePatrick Chludzinski emphasizes public safety through support for law enforcement, tougher accountability for serious drug and violent crimes, parole reforms that elevate victims' rights, and school/community prevention measures.
