Khaleel Anderson was elected to serve New York State Assembly District 31 in Queens in November 2020 and represents communities including Far Rockaway, Arverne, Rosedale, South Ozone Park, Springfield Gardens and JFK Airport. He began as a community organizer at age 13, organized youth civic-engagement work in 2011, served as the youngest member of Queens Community Board 14 and his local Police Precinct Council, and helped build an urban farm providing fresh produce, trainings and youth employment opportunities. He has focused on food insecurity, disaster preparedness, housing, transportation and healthcare planning, and is noted as the youngest Black Assembly Member in New York State history.
