Bruce Blakeman has not published a detailed statewide healthcare platform on his 2026 New York governor campaign site, but available records show positions through his Nassau County executive actions. He supports shifting some public-employee healthcare costs to workers, opposed state control of Nassau University Medical Center, and has overseen opioid-settlement-funded substance-use and mental-health programs in Nassau County.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Blakeman supported discontinuing the existing CSEA health plan for Nassau workers and requiring union workers to make what he described as a small contribution toward healthcare costs.
SourceCSEA reported that Blakeman attempted to move about 5,000 Nassau County CSEA members and retirees from their negotiated healthcare plan to a high-deductible alternative.
SourceBlakeman opposed Governor Hochul’s restructuring of Nassau University Medical Center governance and said he would not appoint members to the new state-controlled board.
SourceAs Nassau County Executive, Blakeman’s administration reported multi-year opioid settlement funding for providers delivering substance-use disorder treatment, medication-assisted treatment, counseling, school-based mental-health services, and prevention advertising.
SourceBruce Blakeman’s Economy & Jobs platform emphasizes lowering taxes and utility bills, reducing regulations and mandates, and presenting affordability as central to job creation and business retention in New York. He also supports expanding energy infrastructure, opposing statewide data-center restrictions when local projects offer economic benefits, and redirecting state spending toward tax relief and core infrastructure.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Blakeman supports eliminating state personal income tax on the first $50,000 for single filers and $100,000 for joint filers, cutting income taxes by 10% for those earning under $250,000, and reducing property taxes by 10%.
SourceBlakeman opposes a statewide moratorium on large data centers and says local governments should be able to make deals with technology companies when projects promise sufficient economic benefits and jobs.
SourceBlakeman called for an immediate settlement framework for the LIRR labor dispute, warning that a strike could cripple the regional economy.
SourceBruce Blakeman supports tougher local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and opposes sanctuary-style limits on Nassau County or local law enforcement. He has backed ICE cooperation, opposed spending county or state resources on services for undocumented migrants, and criticized New York's 2026 law banning local 287(g)-style ICE partnerships.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Blakeman's campaign biography says he ordered the Nassau County Police Department to work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to arrest and deport migrants with criminal records who are wanted for crimes against residents.
SourceNassau County's official county-executive page says Blakeman signed an executive order to ensure Nassau never becomes a sanctuary county and does not spend county tax dollars on services for illegal aliens.
SourceBlakeman announced that 10 Nassau County police detectives would receive federal immigration-agent authority and work with ICE to detain immigrants in the country illegally after they were charged with other crimes.
SourceAfter terminating Nassau County's ICE agreement to comply with the new state law, Blakeman said he disagreed with the law and called it a bad and dangerous law.
SourceWXXI reported that Blakeman said he would join a lawsuit by county sheriffs challenging provisions of the state law banning formal local 287(g) cooperation agreements with ICE.
SourceBruce Blakeman, the 2026 Republican nominee for Governor of New York, frames climate and energy policy around affordability and reliability, blaming New York’s clean-energy mandates and offshore-wind contracts for high utility bills. He supports reversing state renewable-energy goals, allowing natural-gas fracking in New York, expanding nuclear energy, and ending Hochul’s data-center moratorium.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Blakeman supports tapping New York’s natural gas reserves, including reversing the state’s fracking ban, as part of his plan to lower energy costs and create jobs in the Southern Tier.
SourceBlakeman criticized Hochul-backed offshore-wind contracts, renewable mandates, and related utility-bill surcharges, arguing they lock ratepayers into costly long-term subsidies.
SourceBlakeman vowed to rescind Hochul’s one-year moratorium on new large data centers, saying the policy was harmful to New York’s competitiveness in artificial intelligence.
SourceBlakeman said New York should use local natural gas and expand nuclear energy to generate cheaper, reliable in-state power rather than relying on imported electricity.
SourceBruce Blakeman emphasizes parental and local control in education, opposing statewide mandates on school masking and NYSED regionalization while criticizing Albany over state aid threats to Nassau school districts. He also supports allowing Massapequa schools to keep their Native American "Chiefs" mascot rather than comply with New York's statewide mascot ban.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Blakeman joined state senators, local officials, superintendents, and school board advocates to oppose NYSED regionalization mandates, arguing for preserving local control over school budgets, services, and administration.
SourceBlakeman joined U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon at Massapequa High School and supported residents who want to keep the Chiefs mascot, saying it honors rather than denigrates Native American heritage.
SourceBlakeman's official/campaign biography says he advocates for Nassau's fair share of state funding and criticizes state aid cuts and regionalization efforts affecting Nassau County school districts.
SourceBlakeman's 2026 gubernatorial campaign promoted a July 31, 2026 education-focused release criticizing Kathy Hochul and Anthony Fauci for requiring masks for children during COVID, framing the issue as harm to children's education.
SourceBruce Blakeman, the 2026 Republican candidate for Governor of New York, is campaigning on a law-and-order public safety platform focused on backing police, keeping violent offenders incarcerated, changing or repealing criminal justice reforms such as cashless bail, Raise the Age and the HALT Act, and expanding cooperation with ICE. He also points to his Nassau County record, including hiring law enforcement officers, creating an armed emergency deputy program, and entering an ICE partnership, as examples of his approach.
Specific Actions & Proposals
Blakeman criticized New York's cashless bail system as a "revolving door" and said he would overhaul policies he links to repeat offenses and rising crime.
SourceBlakeman said that, if elected governor, he would work with state lawmakers to end or change the HALT Act, arguing that the law makes prisons less safe.
SourceIn accepting the Republican nomination for governor, Blakeman pledged to stand with police and fight to keep violent criminals and cop-killers incarcerated.
SourceBlakeman announced a Nassau County ICE partnership under which 10 county police detectives would be authorized to work with federal immigration agents to detain immigrants in the country illegally after criminal charges.
