Alec Brook-Krasny was born in Moscow, emigrated to Brooklyn, and worked as a stock person at an East Village shoe store before becoming a manager. He built Fun-O-Rama, a community, entertainment, and educational center, and founded the Council of Jewish Émigré Community Organizations. He was first elected to the New York State Assembly in 2006, served until 2015, and returned to represent Assembly District 46 after being elected again in 2022.
